The ministry area of outreach includes ministries of compassion, justice, and advocacy.
All churches are called to provide outreach ministries on the local, state, regional, national, and international levels. Participating in outreach is a good way to get people involved. (“From Guidelines: Small-Membership Church 2017–2020. Copyright © 2016 by Cokesbury. Used by permission.”)
The outreach team coordinates, plans, carries out, and evaluates the congregation’s outreach ministries, including missions, health and welfare, Christian unity and interreligious concerns, church and society issues, religion and race, and status and role of women.
The outreach ministries of Pisgah have looked quite different over the past year during the COVID pandemic. Community events including Blessing of the Backpacks, Easter Egg hunts and Trunk or Treat have been cancelled or limited.
During the pandemic, members that didn't feel comfortable being in public reached out to the outreach team who did shopping, medicine pickup and general errands for them.
Pisgah hosts a Food Bank every other week for those in our community that are in need of food. During holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, a full meal is supplied to the families we serve. Pisgah partners with local schools to distribute canned foods collected during drives.
Seven years ago, Pisgah began hosting a baby shower each year for the babies serviced by McLeod Hospital's NICU unit. Members collect items throughout the year for these babies and their families. Items include handmade and store bought items such as blankets, hats, socks, and clothing.
Pisgah's ministries of compassion address the immediate needs of families and individuals within our community. We assist in natural disasters as well as provide food, clothing and other items in times of need.
The Coastal School Ministries provide Christian education classes during the traditional school day at an off site location. Pisgah is proud to be a financial and prayer supporter of this program.
We support conference and district outreach activities through our giving. Special offerings are collected for Epworth Children's Home each year.
